CarJinga (“CarJinga,” “we,” “us”) runs carjinga.com, a marketplace where you can browse used cars from local dealers and private sellers. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
Information you give us.
- Account details — your name, email address, and optionally a phone number when you create an account. Your password is stored only as a salted, one-way hash; we cannot read it.
- Listings you post — vehicle details, price, photos, description, and the contact phone number you choose to show buyers.
- Messages to sellers — when you contact a seller about a car, we collect your name, email, phone number (if you provide one), and your message, and send them to that seller so they can reply to you.
- Contacting us — anything you send through our contact form or to support@carjinga.com.
- Saved cars and alerts — the cars you save, so we can show them to you and email you when a saved car's price changes or it is removed.
- Search requests — text you type into our search bar, including the AI search (“Ask Jinga”), which is processed by an AI model hosted on Cloudflare to turn your request into search filters.
Information collected automatically.
- Device and usage data — your IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and referring page, collected through our hosting provider and Google Analytics.
- Approximate location — we use your IP address to estimate your city so we can show the cars closest to you first. This is a city-level estimate, not your exact location, and we do not use your device's GPS. You can search from a different spot by entering a ZIP code.

Dealer information. Listings and dealer pages show business information that dealers publish about themselves, such as the dealership name, address, phone number, hours, and inventory. This is business contact information, not personal information about individual shoppers.
How we use information
- To run the marketplace: show listings, rate deals, sort results by distance, and let you save cars.
- To create and secure your account, verify your email, and reset your password.
- To pass your messages to sellers and dealers and let them respond.
- To send service emails such as verification links and saved-car price alerts.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it, and to detect fraud and abuse.
- To comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Service.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:
- Sellers and dealers — the name, email, phone, and message you submit when you contact them about a car.
- Service providers — Cloudflare (hosting, database, file storage, email delivery, and AI processing) and Google (Analytics, and advertising if we show ads). They process information on our behalf under their own terms.
- Legal and safety — when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of CarJinga, our users, or others.
- Business transfers — if CarJinga is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that deal.
Cookies and similar technologies
- Essential cookie — a session cookie keeps you signed in. The site cannot sign you in without it.
- Analytics cookies — Google Analytics uses cookies to measure traffic and how pages are used. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we ask for your permission before using analytics or advertising cookies, and they stay off until you accept. Anyone can change their choice at any time with the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the session cookie will prevent you from signing in.
Advertising
CarJinga may display ads served by Google and its advertising partners. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and other sites on the internet.

How long we keep information
We keep account information while your account is open. Listings expire 30 days after they are posted. Messages sent to sellers and to our support inbox are kept as long as needed to handle your request and for our records. We may keep some information longer where the law requires it or for fraud prevention.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You can update your account details when signed in, and remove listings you posted. You can also email us at support@carjinga.com to ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to close your account. Depending on where you live (for example, California and other US states with privacy laws), you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to have it deleted or corrected, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights, and we may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Children
CarJinga is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
Listings and dealer pages may link to dealers' own websites and other third-party sites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices; please read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use CarJinga after a change means you accept the updated policy.
